Clean Green Serene
Simple, Practical, Versatile
Fixing Tomorrow through teaching our children Today
Our Vision
.... is to preserve the environment by protecting the forests from the menace of charcoal. Introducing Flexi Biogas as an affordable sustainable alternative cooking energy will reduce the demand of wood fuel on tropical rain forests, the only carbon sink and the primary body that encourage rain that feeds the rivers, the bloodlines of living organisms etc etc ... and as we all know, Water is Life.
Our Mission
..... is to change the mindset of our children today to use biogas so that in ten years or so when they make homes for themselves, by default they will “THINK” biogas and leave the forests in peace. In this aim, we are encouraging schools and institutions to adopt this easily expandable technology and encourage hands-on participation in operations by the students and youths.
Some scary facts...
- The current Greater East Africa population of approximately 300 million is projected to increase to 438 million by 2025 and to 650 million by 2050. http://www.prb.org/Articles/2008/foodsecurityeastafrica.aspx
-
It is estimated that wood fuel makes up approximately 80% of domestic energy use in Kenya and upwards of 95% in other East African regions.
-
The per capita use of wood-fuel is 1 ton per year!
-
In Kenya alone, natural replacement rates of wood fuel are estimated to be less than 60% – i.e. wood supplies are disappearing by 40 % each year.
Given the above stats, in the less than ten years, the impact on the forests will be catastrophic. Not only will there be no trees, no firewood or charcoal, but rivers will dry, erosion will wash away fertile topsoil making grazing and farming impossible. The resulting poverty, hunger and starvation will reach unfathomable levels.
Like wildfire, the cancer will spread consuming anything and everything in its path, Agriculture, Wildlife, Tourism, Trade etc, eventually turning rich resourceful countries into poor pride-less begging nations.
Charcoal is the cancer of poverty

A sneak view of the tomorrow for our children - Pictures speak mountains
We need an affordable renewable sustainable fuel NOW!!!
Upwards of 80% of the population of Kenya rely on wood fuel for cooking heating and lighting. With little or no access to liquid petroleum gas - LPG, or Kerosene, and the forever rising costs of the same, the demise of the forests is imminent.
BUT..... nearly every household has a cow – or at least access to the poop of one.

Note: Biogas can be produced from any decomposable organic matter including kitchen and garden waste, agricultural waste, all animal and even human poop.
The miracle of Biogas
Ancient Persians observed that rotting vegetables produced a flammable gas, and in 1859 Indians built the first sewage plant in Bombay. Biogas has been used in China for 2,000–3,000 years.
Two types of biogas digesters have been previously promoted in Kenya. The floating dome type from India and fixed dome types from China. Both are used widely in their home countries but have not done all that well here.
So what's the problem??

Studies have been done to find out why Kenyans don’t take to biogas and have come up with several reasons -
1. It’s just too expensive. Fixed dome and floating top systems that produce sufficient volumes of gas for domestic use costs upwards of Kes 150,000.00.
2. Conventional systems are "FIXED" and non expandable. So as one's energy requirement increases, ........ need I say more
3. They require technical expertise in construction which requires masonry stones, sand, iron bars and mesh, cement....
4. They will can take several weeks or months to construct. This adds to the cost and sheer scariness of it.
5. Metal parts of the dome are prone to rusting requiring regular expensive repair or replacement.
6. As it’s a major construction, the user must own the land due to the construction requirements and ownership.
7. Components and materials are bulky requiring expensive truck transportation.
CONVENTIONAL (STONE AGE) TECHNOLOGY

1. Times have changed but the age-old design of the floating top and sealed dome systems has remained. When they were originally designed, construction materials available only allowed for limited efficiency. By design, and especially in the sealed dome design, huge volumes of gas escape to the environment through the expansion chamber making the systems extremely inefficient. Further to this, Methane is lighter than air and considered by many a Green House "OZONE DEPLETING" Gas.
Q. I ask you simply, can you truly prevent global warming by saving the forests in the aim of reducing carbon emissions whilst in the same breath you blow holes through ozone layer allowing solar radiation to zap the hell out of the planet???
2. Both systems require agitation to prevent clogging and blockages. This translates to a mixture of partially new input matter being ejected bebore fully fermented or digested contributing to further inefficiency in the systems. If applied directly to the seedbed, the partially fermented mico-organism rich slurry will in-jest any organic matter it will come into contact with - your crop, and is infact harmful to the soil.
Intro Flexi Biogas Systems,
THE ONLY TRUE GREEN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY
- 100% of the Methane produced is capture in the Flexi biogas systems.
- Harmless carbon dioxide and water are released when Methane-CH4 is burned.
- Fertilizer output is concentrated organic 100% composted and seedbed ready with no further processing or curing required.
Clean, Practical, Affordable, Sustainable

Flexi Biogas is TRUE GREEN
Simplicity
The plants are fabricated from reinforced long lasting UV resistant plastic
All components can be recyclable after use
User serviceable components are widely locally available

Portability
When packed the kit is compact and lightweight, and can be transported on a motorcycle or boda-boda. When upscaling, you can sell current system and install a larger capacity system and when moving house you just roll it up and take it with you.

- No construction, digging, masonry, building etc
- No heavy transport costs
- No contractors and fundi's
- No hassle

- => Dung from one cow will produce sustainable volumes of gas for an average 4 - 5 member family
- => The more input the more output i.e. the higher the volume of input, the larger the volume of gas produced
- => Being solar heated, the system will produce usable volumes in about four days of installation and sustainable volumes within a weeks or two
Protective fencing

Synchronising more than one digester with a scheduled input supply will continuously produce a large volume of both gas and high quality fertilizer.
Another systems we have designed is specific for application in remote locations such as clinics, schools, children's homes, institutions etc, off power grids (or just wanting to reduce power / fuel overheads)
